What Sets Us Apart?
As an independent firm, our flexible structure and relational approach to serving clients sets us apart in a meaningful way. Our client base is intentionally capped which allows for more frequent check-ins, direct access, and real-time conversations on topics in life (job changes, family planning, relocation) and finances (legacy planning, charitable giving, retirement).
One of our greatest joys is working with clients to find the “why” behind their wealth. We partner with clients on a journey to clarify the purpose behind their money and the greater vision for how they want to utilize their wealth to meet their life and legacy goals. Some topics we may discuss are “How much do I need?” and “Where will this money go when I’m gone?”
BENJAMIN SCHMID, CFP®, CKA®
YOUR FEE-ONLY FINANCIAL ADVISOR
Ben is the founder of Ketwich Capital LLC ("Ket-Cap") which serves the financial and investment needs of professionals and families. Ben is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and a Certified Kingdom Advisor®.
Prior to founding Ket-Cap in 2017, Ben spent a decade working on Wall Street at UBS and Neuberger Berman. As an equity analyst in 2008, he had a front-row seat to the housing bubble burst and the collapse of the global economy. This experience taught him the dangers of financial salesmanship (mortgages in this case) and the pitfall wealth can bring when there is no plan or purpose.
Ben is passionate about helping others become secure, content, and generous in their wealth. Ben has facilitated financial courses including Financial Peace University, Charting Your Legacy, and the Journey of Generosity (Generous Giving).
In his personal time, Ben can be found either outside with his wife and two young children or building something around the house. He is an avid reader of books related to money, history, and theology.
WHO IS KETWICH?
Ketwich Capital is named after the Dutch merchant Adriaan van Ketwich who is credited with creating the first mutual fund in 1774 named Eendragt Maakt Magt (“Unity Creates Strength”).
The fund was founded after Europe had experienced economic shock from a series of bubbles and its intent was to pool investor assets to diversify holdings and reduce risk. As the fund advisor, Ketwich held a fiduciary position to uphold "good and proper management at all times."
Why Ketwich Capital?
Like our 18th century brethren, we continue to benefit from the innovation of diversified funds. Unfortunately, the industry’s fiduciary roots are less apparent as investors now face a confusing marketplace with thousands of fund options, high fees, poor performance, and investment brokers more focused on selling than stewarding.
Following Ketwich’s original mission, we seek to return to old principles that put you, our client, as our sole priority.
